Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans to stop singing his song AGAIN during a lengthy call in his program commentary – asking them to direct their chants at the players to ‘keep them on their toes’

Jurgen Klopp has reaffirmed his stance on Liverpool supporters singing his song during matches, and has called on Reds stalwarts to focus all their energies on the players on the pitch.

The Anfield club hosted Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon and the German manager took the opportunity to return to the subject in his program commentary for the match.

Klopp reacted somewhat angrily to the chants of his name during a win against Bournemouth last month, but was keen to address the reason why he feels renditions of ‘I’m so Glad (That Jurgen is a Red)’ are best kept until after the final whistle.

“The first thing I have to say about it is that I absolutely love it.” He wrote. “To have a song on my behalf sung by the supporters of this club is so special I can’t put my feelings into words, but it’s an honor that would have been beyond my imagination when I became manager of Liverpool.

“I say this because I don’t want any misunderstandings to arise. I love that the song exists. I like it being sung. And above all, I am humbled that the supporters I love want to sing it when they come to Anfield.

“Just thinking about it gives me goosebumps. The only exception I make – and it’s much easier and much better to do it in these notes than in the heat of a game – is that I would love it if it became a post-game song.

“During matches I want all the support to go to the players. I want them to feel your support and to encourage and keep them on their toes.’

The Reds go into the game against Villa after a thrilling 2-1 win away at Newcastle last Sunday.

Klopp’s side ended a positive week with the deadline day signing of Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch and were able to climb back into the top four with a win against a talented Villa side who also had a good start to the season.
