Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans they MUST accept ‘stepping aside’ on transfers
‘You wouldn’t say you want a Ferrari at Christmas as a five-year-old!’: Jurgen Klopp tells Liverpool fans they MUST accept being ‘stepped aside’ for unattainable big money deals after pulling out of Jude Bellingham race
Jürgen Klopp compared talk of Liverpool pursuing some mega money transfers this summer to a five-year-old asking for a Ferrari at Christmas.
Mail Sport revealed this week that Liverpool have pulled out of the race to sign in-demand Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, with Klopp’s side prioritizing spreading their money for a summer rebuild.
“You have to work with what you’ve got,” Klopp said on Friday when asked about his transfer plans and the end of the Bellingham pursuit.
“As a five-year-old at Christmas you wouldn’t say you want a Ferrari.
“Whatever we need and want, we try absolutely everything to get it, but there are times when you have to accept that it’s not possible and step aside and do other things.”
Klopp repeated more than once that his answers were not directly linked to Bellingham, but reporters at his press conference continued to ask questions about the Dortmund superstar.
“My answer is not about Jude Bellingham,” Klopp added, frustrated to be questioned about the England midfielder.
“I don’t understand why we’re talking about things we can’t theoretically have, like six players in the summer for £100 million (each). You have to work with what you have.’
