Jurgen Klopp takes swipe at Man United by claiming title rivals Arsenal will win with ease at Old Trafford next month if Erik ten Hag’s side play as badly as they did against Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp lashed out at Manchester United on Sunday by claiming that title rival Arsenal can look forward to a walkover at Old Trafford if Erik ten Hag’s side play as poorly as they did against Liverpool.
Mo Salah’s late penalty rescued a 2-2 draw from a close match, but it was still two points down to Arsenal and Manchester City in a match Liverpool dominated against their old rivals.
United take on Arsenal at Old Trafford next month in their final home game of the penultimate weekend of the season, and Klopp is not expecting any favors based on Sunday’s match.
“Arsenal are a good football team,” said the Liverpool manager. ‘If they (United) play like today, Arsenal will win the match, I am 100 percent sure. I’m sorry to say that.’
Three weeks after letting United off the hook in a stunning 4-3 FA Cup quarter-final defeat at Old Trafford, Liverpool outscored their opponents 15-0 in the first half but conceded just one goal from Luis Diaz to see.

United scored on their first attempt on goal from the halfway line when Jarell Quansah’s terribly misplaced pass allowed Bruno Fernandes to score into an empty net. Kobbie Mainoo put United ahead with a spectacular strike, before Salah equalized from the spot.
Klopp added: ‘In all the times since I’ve been here, I don’t think we’ve ever dominated United as much as we did in these two games.
‘We should have won the match, that’s clear. It’s incredible to be 1-0 up at Old Trafford and have a 15-0 scoreline. No shots in the first half and 1-0 is the lowest we could expect.
‘Very well done Bruno. I have the bad news that it won’t be his (Quansah’s) last mistake. He handled it extremely well.
‘Then the stadium comes and we needed a few minutes to calm down again and they scored another screamer.’
Liverpool started the weekend at the top of the table but are now second behind Arsenal on goal difference and just one point ahead of City.
However, Klopp refuses to panic, adding: ‘The whole Liverpool community just remains calm. We are where we are and we’ll keep trying. Do I wish we had a 10 point difference? Naturally. We take what we have and move on.
‘Until yesterday we were against each other and now it’s Arsenal. We want to be there after 38 games, the last match day. It’s better to be there and have some distance.
‘The team that ultimately wins the competition should earn it. We’re in the race and I’m absolutely fine with it.”

Captain Virgil van Dijk said the draw ‘feels like a loss’ because of Liverpool’s chances
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk had to regret Liverpool’s missed chances.
“It feels like a loss, it’s our fault again,” said Van Dijk. ‘We had so many chances and we had to finish the game.
‘Unfortunately the individual mistake happened with the equalizer and we had so much time to put it right, but we were in a hurry.’
