June Brown’s funeral scenes will feature THREE of her real-life children as Albert Square stalwart Dot Cotton lays in rest at EastEnders.

According to SunShow boss Chris Kershaw recounted how June’s children Sophie, Nim and Billy asked to be in the emotional scene.

The special episode, which runs to 37 minutes and reportedly features a slightly altered theme song, airs on Monday, December 12.

June, who died in April this year at the age of 95, was also the mother of daughters Louise and Chloe with her husband Richard Arnold, who died in 2003.

In her final scenes of the BBC series, Dot left a voicemail to say that she was going to Ireland to visit her grandson Charlie.

Chris, who is the executive producer of EastEnders, told the publication that while she was alive, June did not want Dot to be killed.

He said: ‘She of course knew that when she left us, it was the right thing to do.

‘After a while, we couldn’t put it off much longer. We spoke to June’s family, who knew what she would have wanted.’

He added: “June’s children Nim, Sophie and Billy knew what EastEnders meant to their mother, so much so that they requested to attend Dot’s funeral to say goodbye.”

She said: ‘It was a very emotional day. We cried real tears during the shoot because it really is a beautiful tribute to her. There are elements of the episode that will make you laugh.

“June was always a bit mischievous on set and would often change the words in the script, but that’s who she was.

The BBC soap opera revealed that six actors will reprise their roles for the special tribute episode in which the residents of Albert Square say their last goodbyes to their beloved laundry worker.

Returning include Jacqueline Jossa, who played Dot’s granddaughter Lauren Branning and said it was a “no brainer” to return, and Tom Watt, who played George “Lofty” Holloway.
