Jumanji 3 coming in 2026 and entire cast is ‘expected to return’

Sony Pictures announced on Monday that it had officially greenlit Jumanji 3 for a December 11, 2026 release date.

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are all ‘in talks’ to reprise their video game characters in the action-adventure three-quel, which will also likely see director Jake Kasdan return to the helm – according to Term.

On October 16, The Rock – who plays Dr. Xander ‘Smolder’ Bravestone plays – ‘broke bread’ during a dinner with Jumanji 3 producer Hiram Garcia (the brother of his ex-wife Dany Garcia, who also produces Jumanji 3).

On September 10, Karen, who plays Ruby Roundhouse, will announced she and her husband of two years, Nick Kocher, were expecting their first child.

‘[Dwayne and I] of course we’re talking about another Jumanji. That was a conversation,” confirmed Kevin – who plays Franklin “Mouse” Finbar Variety last year.

“And just figuring out what could or could be in the final chapter. He and I, we feel like we need something big to like our duo [a fitting] end. And don’t just leave it undone. Like something that we can say will be our last or last movie or franchise.”

Meanwhile, Jack – who plays Professor Sheldon ‘Shelly’ Oberon – has kept a low profile since announcing a hiatus from his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass on July 14 over his comments on the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Gass was celebrating his 64th birthday on stage at the ICC Sydney Theater in Australia and Black asked him to “make a wish” on his lit candles, and he replied: “Next time, don’t miss Trump.”

“I was blindsided by what was said on the show on Sunday,” says the 55-year-old Emmy winner said in a statement at the time.

“I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much consideration, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour and all future creative plans are on hold.”

It’s unclear whether the same cast of video game-playing “teens” – Alex Wolff, Ser’Darius Blain, Madison Iseman and Morgan Turner – have aged and will be replaced by new faces.

Jumanji 3 will technically be the fifth film in the $2.1 billion franchise.

It all started in 1981 with Chris Van Allsburg’s picture book Jumanji, which Joe Johnston adapted into the $65 million budget fantasy starring Robin Williams in 1995, which ultimately grossed $262.8 million at the global box office despite dismal reviews.
