Coney Island’s hot dog eating contest took place on the federal holiday, although it was postponed.

More than 30,000 people came to New York’s Coney Island to celebrate the Fourth of July, but the festivities were interrupted when dark clouds rolled in around noon.

Despite fears that the massive event was canceled, it was later given the green light to begin at 2PM ET.
