A heartbroken husband has broken down and made a desperate plea after his wife disappeared without a trace on the road trip of a lifetime.
Clifford Schutt is in bits and pieces after Julie, his wife of 25 years, disappeared in Streaky Bay on the west coast of South Australia.
The Queensland couple was on a road trip when Clifford went to pick up dinner menus on a Sunday night. However, when he returned, there was no sign of Julie.
In a strange twist, Julie, 48, was seen on CCTV walking down a street and out of town – despite the couple having never been to South Australia before.

“I’m very up and down and moments of breakups and just numb and then it’s all bits and pieces,” the distraught husband shared 9News.
“It’s just completely baffling why they… yeah, we just don’t know what happened.”
The couple have three sons together, one of whom is still in high school.

Mrs. Schutt’s brother, Todd, has gone madly to Streaky Bay to help with the search.
“I’m trying to keep my spirits up and hope she’s safe and well, but hopefully someone can give us a clue,” Todd told ABC.
“If it’s the early days, you have a little hope that she will come back or that she will be found very soon.
“Please come back, we need you.”
South Australian police scaled back the search on Thursday.
“After consultation with the family, resources for the search around Streaky Bay have been reduced,” a statement read.
“Police will continue to investigate the case as an ongoing missing person case.”

Superintendent Paul Bahr added: “As time passes, concerns for her well-being increase.”
Police cannot rule out that Julie may have hitched a ride to nearby towns and are asking everyone in communities on the Eyre Peninsula.
Julie is described as 5ft 5in (170cm) tall, with dark shoulder-length hair, and was last seen wearing jeans and a blue striped top with a star in the center and light colored boots.
Anyone who has seen Julie is urged to call the police helpline (131 444).’
