Julian Wood’s stabbing suspect SMIRKS in court as three-year-old’s father pleads with judge to ‘keep this monster behind bars’
The Ohio woman accused of stabbing three-year-old Julian Wood and his mother while they were grocery shopping was seen grinning in court Monday as she was charged with the young boy’s murder.
Bionca Ellis, 32, was seen smiling and almost laughing in the Cuyahoga Court of Common Pleas as Judge Nancy Margaret announced she is charged with murder, aggravated murder, attempted murder, assault, child endangerment, tampering with evidence and felony theft.
She even turned directly to the camera and grinned before pleading not guilty to charges stemming from Wood’s murder at the Giant Eagle supermarket in North Olmstead, Cleveland on June 2.
But moments later, Wood’s grieving father, Jared Wood, begged the judge to “do everything you can to keep this monster behind bars” and prosecutors announced they would seek the death penalty.

The young boy was sitting in a grocery cart when Ellis allegedly stabbed him in the face and back
“That day, a week ago, she took everything from us,” he said, apparently fighting back tears.
“There is nothing that could ever replace my son or anything that my wife and I, even our other children, are going through.”
Police say Ellis first encountered Julian and his mother, Margot, 37, as they left the Giant Eagle supermarket and followed them outside to their car – brandishing a knife she had allegedly stolen from a nearby Volunteers of America Thrift Store.
She then allegedly stabbed the toddler in the face and back while he was in the shopping cart, then cut up his mother as she tried to get her child to safety. according to Cleveland19.
Ellis was found just a few minutes later walking down a nearby side street, still carrying a bloody knife, police said.

Ellis’ lawyer suggested in court that she has “notable mental health issues.”
Meanwhile, the supermarket descended into chaos as paramedics desperately tried to revive the young boy and transported him and his mother to nearby St John Medical Center.
But Julian’s wounds were too great and he did not survive the attack.
However, his mother is expected to make a full recovery.
It remains unclear why Ellis allegedly attacked the family as they left the supermarket.
Police say Ellis had no previous connection to the Wood family and called the attack “completely a random act of violence.”
‘There is no evidence as to why she did this. She didn’t want to talk about anything, she hired a lawyer,” said Detective Matthew Beck.
Ellis was reportedly caught on surveillance footage following Julian and his mother out of the supermarket while brandishing a knife
She initially appeared in court via video conference on Monday with her head bowed
He noted that there was no recorded history of mental illness, but admitted that after her brutal and unexplained alleged crime, he was not so sure this was accurate.
“There are some mental health concerns, but nothing concrete at this point,” he said.
Ellis’ attorney also suggested in court Monday that she has “notable mental health issues,” as the suspect initially appeared via video feed with her head down and refused to answer the judge’s questions about whether or not she should accept the charges had read.
Judge Russo then ordered an attorney from the public defender’s office to go to the Cuyahoga County Jail and read the charges to Ellis.
About 45 minutes later, Ellis appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.
Russo then set Ellis’ bond at $5 million and ordered the suspect to return to court next Monday

“She has devastated our family beyond belief, she has taken something from us that we can never get back.”
