- Ryan Mason and former manager Mauricio Pochettino are also in the running.
Julian Nagelsmann is emerging as the favorite to replace Antonio Conte as Tottenham manager after being sacked by Bayern Munich.
The 35-year-old was reportedly told of his shock departure on Thursday during a ski holiday in Austria, with Bayern sitting one point behind Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga title race.
Bayern are set to name Thomas Tuchel as their new manager, and the former Chelsea boss is set to get down to business on Monday. And Nagelsmann is also linked with a new job, surpassing both Ryan Mason and Mauricio Pochettino as the favorite to become the next Spurs boss.
Conte is still in charge of Tottenham at the moment, but his future hangs in the balance. The Italian’s contract is due to expire in the summer, although Spurs have the option to extend his contract by 12 months, and Sportsmail understands that the club have already begun identifying candidates to replace him.
The 53-year-old flew back to his family home in Turin during the international break, with Mason in charge of training following Conte’s extraordinary tirade against his players after their draw against Southampton.

Several candidates have emerged as possible replacements if president Daniel Levy pulls the trigger and sacks Conte, including Luis Enrique, Oliver Glasner and, of course, former manager Pochettino.
But it is Nagelsmann who has now taken pole position, according to Paddy Powerwho has the German as a favorite at 11/10.
Nagelsmann would certainly be an attractive option for the Tottenham faithful.
He won 60 of his 84 games in charge of Bayern (71.4 percent) after taking over in July 2021, but has only one Bundesliga trophy and two German Super Cups throughout his tenure.
Former Spurs midfielder and now expert Jamie O’Hara has already urged his former club to hire the out-of-work manager. “Nagelsmann fired by Bayern, Spurs should contact him directly by phone,” he tweeted on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Sportsmail understands that Roberto De Zerbi, Marco Silva, Steve Cooper, Thomas Frank, Oliver Glasner and Ange Postecoglou are among the others also being considered.
Former Tottenham midfielder Mason could also be handed the reins on an interim basis, and if he impresses in the remaining 10 games, he could be seen as a long-term option.
Mason is the second favorite to take charge at 15/8, while Pochettino is just behind at 10/3.
Tottenham will resume their Premier League campaign at Everton on Monday April 3, with the north London club still fighting for a Champions League place.
