Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot remain the bookies’ favourites to be Tottenham’s next manager

Julian Nagelsmann and Arne Slot remain the bookmakers’ favorites to become Tottenham’s next manager, despite the fact that the Feyenoord boss REJECTS the club… with Ruben Amorin, Julen Lopetegui – and even MARK HUGHES – on their list!

  • Tottenham’s search for managers was dealt another blow when Arne Slot rejected the club
  • The Spurs are still looking for a replacement for Antonio Conte, who left in March
  • Julian Nagelsmann, Ruben Amorin and Luis Enrique are among the contenders

Arne Slot remains the favorite for the Tottenham manager’s job, despite insisting he wants to stay at Feyenoord.

The Dutchman – who won the Eredivisie this season – had emerged as Spurs’ priority to replace Antonio Conte after the Italian was sacked in March.

On Thursday morning, however, he announced that he wants to stay with Feyenoord next year, after he had consulted with his club on Wednesday.

“I hear a lot of rumors that other clubs are interested in me. Although I am grateful, my wish is to stay with Feyenoord and continue to work on what we created last year,” he said.

“Yesterday’s meeting was for extension only. All conversations with the club have always been only in this sense. I’m looking forward to next season at Feyenoord.’

The 44-year-old is rated 10/3 along with Julian Nagelsmann – despite the club insisting they have no plans to appoint the ex-Bayern Munich boss.

Mail Sport reported how Spurs have “great respect” for the German coach but currently have no plans to take their interest further, while Nagelsmann was also not entirely convinced of the club’s course this summer.

However, Slot’s rejection of the role could force the club to change their stance on the 35-year-old.

Elsewhere, Luis Enrique – who continues to be linked with a slew of top jobs following his exit from Spain after the World Cup – is being priced at 5/1 to take over as he looks set to return to club football following his departure from Barcelona in 2017.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has come under increasing pressure from supporters after several botched decisions this season and Slot’s decision to turn down the club has left him with few options.

He’s unlikely to appease fans with the appointment of Brendan Rodgers or Graham Potter – who are priced at 8/1 and 11/1 respectively.

Meanwhile, Luciano Spalletti looks set to leave Napoli, despite winning their first Scudetto in 33 years this season and being valued at 14/1, while Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim comes in at 16/1.

Bradford City boss Mark Hughes is even on their list, with the Welshman priced at 100/1

Julen Lopetegui is also an option after news broke that the former Spain and Real Madrid boss could leave Wolves amid concerns over their summer transfer plans and is priced at 40/1.

Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho – who was sacked by the club in April 2021 after 17 months in charge – is 100/1.

He is joined as an extreme long shot by Bradford City boss Mark Hughes, who failed to lead the Bantams to promotion from League Two this season.

Similarly, West Ham’s David Moyes is also at 100/1, with the Scot navigating the Hammers to the Europa League Conference final and mid-table obscurity after a promising end to the season.

Whatever happens, after being turned down by Slot, the Spurs must act quickly and turn their attention to a new candidate, with several names reportedly still in the running.
