Julen Lopetegui has decided to turn down the chance to manage Wolves for a second time after the club made him their first choice to succeed Bruno Lage.
The former boss of Spain and Real Madrid held talks with Wolves chairman Jeff Shi in his home country this week and chose to turn back the offer for family reasons.
Lopetegui was sacked by Sevilla last week and as his 92-year-old father is said to be unwell, he has decided not to return to the game immediately.

It’s a huge setback for Wolves, who had pinned their hopes on Lopetegui and were sure he would accept it. They were also about to hire Lopetegui six years ago, but he took over the Spanish national post instead.
It is unclear whether Wolves will be willing to continue with interim management until the World Cup break next month, when they could try to convince Lopetegui again.
Caretakers Steve Davis and James Collins will continue to lead the team in the absence of a permanent boss as Wolves face a crucial game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Bo Svensson, the highly regarded Mainz coach, could now enter the fray. The Dane was on Brighton’s shortlist before they hired Roberto De Zerbi and has a growing reputation.
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglu is another with many admirers, although it would be a surprise if he left Glasgow mid-season.
