Jujutsu Kaisen just wrapped its devastating second season, but fans of the series won't have to wait too long for a sequel, as MAPPA announced Thursday that a third season of the hit supernatural action anime is already in production at the studio.
The announcement was made via a video shared in the series ' official websitewhich announced that the upcoming third season would adapt the 'Culling Game' arc of Gege Akutami's original manga.
Set after the events of the Shibuya Incident arc, the story follows Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuta Okkotsu and more as they once again battle the rogue Jujutsu wizard Kenjaku. No other information has been shared at this time, although another update on the season's director and premiere date is expected sometime later in 2024.
Since its premiere in 2020, the anime adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen has amassed a passionate fan base of audiences and has become one of the most popular contemporary shonen anime alongside other series such as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba And My Hero Academia. In 2021 MAPPA produced Jiujutsu Kaisen 0a feature film set before the events of the anime and introducing the character Yuta Okkotsu, a Jujutsu wizard and former student of Satoru Gojo.
