Jude Law reveals the truth about The Holiday cottage and shares secrets about filming with Cameron Diaz: ‘I’ve just burst the bubble!’
Jude Law ‘burst the bubble’ when he spilled movie secrets from his Christmas classic The Holiday on BBC Radio 2.
The actor, 51, shared behind-the-scenes details on Friday about the film, which was released in 2006, with host Zoe Ball and comedian Kerry Godliman.
Jude starred as a widower named Graham who falls in love with Amanda (Cameron Diaz) when she swaps homes with Surrey-based journalist Iris (Kate Winslet).
Speaking about the picturesque cottage where Amanda is holidaying, Kerry asked: ‘Can you put that cottage on Airbnb?’, while Zoe replied: ‘I think so’, Jude told them the truth.
‘That house doesn’t exist. So the director, she’s a bit of a perfectionist, toured the whole area and couldn’t quite find the chocolate house she was looking for,” he revealed.
“So she just rented a field, drew it and had someone build it. But the funny thing is when you look at it.

“So we were shooting here in the winter and every time I went through that door we were cutting and shooting the interiors in LA, about three months later.”
Stunned, Zoe said: ‘We don’t want to hear it anymore. We can’t bear it,” while Kerry added: “That’s very disturbing.”
Jude looked sheepish and replied, “Just bursting the bubble, sorry.”
Although Rosehill Cottage was not real, the cast did film in the Surrey villages of Shere and Godalming.
The Honeysuckle Cottage in Holmbury St Mary, which was offered for sale in 2021 and is now an Airbnb, was the inspiration for the crew who designed it.
Rosehill Cottage became a phenomenon after the film came out, with fans calling it the perfect English dream home for Christmas.
While the outside was lightly dusted with snow, the inside had a roll top bath and a shabby chic kitchen.
In June, Jude confirmed he would star in a sequel to The Holiday.

In conversation with E! News at the Tribeca Festival in New York City, Jude said, “I think it’s a great idea.”
While he admitted he would have to ask director and writer Nancy Meyers first, he added, “Why not?”
The Holiday told the story of Surrey-based journalist Iris (Kate Winslet) who, after suffering heartbreak, swaps homes with Amanda, a Hollywood film producer.
While in Surrey, Amanda finds a romance with Iris’ book editor brother, widower Graham, while Iris meets Miles (played by Jack Black) and dates him.
In June, Jude confirmed he would star in a sequel to The Holiday
Graham is father of children Olivia and Sophie, played by Miffy Englefield and Emma Pritchard.
Graham’s daughter also falls in love with Amanda when they adopt her into their family.
Despite his on-screen daughters now being adults, Jude believes the plot could still be revisited as he adds that he doesn’t believe his character will have changed much.
“I think Graham still has vests and glasses and reads,” he joked. “He’s probably worried about the girls, right?” The daughters will be 28, 29.’
