Juan Soto’s trade to Yankees is COMPLETED in blockbuster MLB move as slugger leaves San Diego Padres and heads to New York

The New York Yankees have completed their blockbuster trade for Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres.

Multiple reports late Wednesday night say Soto and Trent Grisham are headed to New York.

The move will cause major excitement at Yankee Stadium, with Soto joining Aaron Judge in the Yankees' lineup. It's the milestone the team needed after a terrible 2023 in which they failed to make the playoffs.

Soto and Grisham, coupled with a Tuesday trade with the Boston Red Sox for Alex Verdugo, give the Yankees a plethora of options surrounding 2022 American League MVP Judge.

Soto, a three-time All Star and four-time Silver Slugger winner, has a one-year contract but at 25 years old has the potential to develop into a great Yankee.

“He's an impact bat, one of the best hitters in the game,” general manager Brian Cashman told reporters at the Winter Meetings. 'It's clearly a calling card for the left, and for us that's an area where we need it. He makes a difference in that batter's box.'

Soto has hit 160 home runs in his MLB career so far, and 483 RBIs to go along with 786 total hits and an on-base percentage of .421.

He started with the Washington Nationals before joining the Padres at the 2022 trade deadline.
