Juan Soto has ‘begun eliminating teams’ as Yankees, Dodgers, Red Sox and Mets fight for $600m man

Juan Soto is narrowing his options as some of baseball’s biggest organizations continue the $600 million battle for his signature.

Both New York teams, the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, are competing along with the Los Angeles Dodgers to sign the slugger, who hit 41 home runs for the Yankees in the 2024 regular season before heading to free agency.

His agent, Scott Boras, has confirmed that the 26-year-old has started excluding teams from his decision, while The Athletics have reported that every bid Soto has received exceeds the $600 million mark.

“When you go through these things, he just has a lot of information to process,” Boras said.

‘We have had discussions with a number of franchises. He’s started eliminating teams and doing things.

“Juan is a very methodical thinker, so we’ll see, but I don’t think anything is imminent in the near future.”

What exactly Boras defines as ‘near future’ remains to be seen, but it was previously claimed that Soto could announce his choice by the middle of next week.

Boras spoke Tuesday at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, where the World Series winners unveiled another of his clients: pitcher Blake Snell, who signed a five-year, $182 million contract with the team.

Soto is expected to sign a 12-year deal, with teams across baseball viewing him as a generational talent.

The Yankees would like to keep him and expand his partnership in the lineup alongside Aaron Judge.

Many have said that their crosstown rival, the Mets, is the favorite for Soto, with owner Steve Cohen refusing to be outbid for the left-hander.

The Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays, both rivals of the Yankees in the American League East, are also surprising contenders.

The Red Sox were pushing hard for Soto, while the Blue Jays were poised to match the Dodgers for Shohei Ohtani.

If the Dodgers rush Soto, they would become overwhelming favorites to win the World Series again.

They have already strengthened their roster with Snell joining the pitching rotation and Ohtani is expected to return to the mound in 2025.
