Joss Stone has detailed her “scary” experience when she gave birth to her second baby by emergency c-section a year early after a devastating miscarriage.
In October, the English singer, 35, revealed she had given birth to her baby boy with boyfriend Cody DaLuz, named Shackleton. They also share a daughter, Violet, a.
But her time in the hospital delivering her precious bundle was difficult, as she has explained that she was already in “huge amounts of pain” before she got the news that she needed a C-section.

‘[Shackleton’s] heart rate was normal. And then, all of a sudden, it just slowed down, slowed down tremendously. I thought, “Oh, that’s my baby. That’s not good.”
Speaking of the nurse taking care of her, Joss said, “She comes up to me and she says, ‘The room will fill up with a lot of people – Don’t worry, just keep calm’, and Cody looks at me and he said the same thing .’
Not long after, baby Shackleton’s heart rate slowed “greatly again.”

“He came down the birth canal, and when my uterus ruptured, his head went into my stomach and he went back up… They had to let him breathe again.”
It was then that the doctors decided to put her to sleep – and by the time she woke up, her baby boy was born.
The singer announced in April that she was expecting another child, revealing she suffered a devastating miscarriage six months earlier.

She first met her partner Cody on a chance encounter at an airport in Belize while Joss was on tour and working in private security.
They welcomed their first child, daughter Violet Melissa, in January 2021.
In August, she said she did not yet have a name for the child.
Speaking on an Instagram live, the Grammy Award winner asked fans for name suggestions and also shared how lucky she was to not get stretch marks as she heads into her third trimester.
