Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner Smith SPLIT: Actress files for divorce citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ after four years of marriage

Joshua Jackson and Jodie Turner Smith have split after almost four years of marriage.

The British actress, 37, who shares three-year-old daughter Janie with the Dawson’s Creek star, 45, has filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, reports TMZ.

Famed divorce attorney Laura Wasser is representing Smith in the divorce, with the actress seeking joint custody of their daughter. The date of separation is stated as September 13.

She does not want spousal support for her or Jackson, as the couple entered into a prenuptial agreement.

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives of the couple for comment.

Jodie and Joshua married in 2019 after meeting through mutual friends in 2018 and initially insisting their romance was just ‘casual’.

She previously revealed their romance started as a one-night stand.

In 2021, Jodie appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers and joked that despite a fast start, their relationship was still going strong.

“When I first met my husband, we had a one night stand,” she told the host. “We’ve been in a one-night stand for two or three years now.”

She then told Seth the story of how they met at a party and how they both felt an instant connection.

“First of all, I saw him before he saw me and when I saw him I was like, ‘I want that,’” she said. “And when he saw me, I pretended not to see him.”

Although she didn’t seem impressed by Joshua’s opening line, she explained how he came around and did his “cute and charming thing.”

“All night long he followed me around the party,” The Last Ship actress added. ‘He felt the energy. He felt it.’

The pair started dating in October 2018 and married in December 2019 after the actress proposed during a New Year’s Eve holiday in Nicaragua, with Joshua ‘instinctively’ saying yes.

Jodie was a banker before she met Pharrell Williams, who convinced her to become a model and move to Los Angeles. She made her acting debut in 2013 when she played a siren in the HBO series True Blood.

Turner-Smith rose to prominence after starring in the 2019 film Queen & Slim.

She previously told People magazine that she appreciated being married to someone who has so much experience in the industry.

Joshua has been acting since 1991 and played the role of Pacey Witter on the popular teen show Dawson’s Creek from 1998 to 2003.

“He has a wealth of experience to offer and advice based on experience,” Jodie said. ‘And I think that’s great. I just like picking his brain about things. I’m someone who is just starting out. So that energy of someone who is just starting out, that excitement, that just anything and everything is possible, I think I really inspire him with that.’

The Nightflyers actress told Seth that she watched Dawson’s Creek growing up and was “Team Pacey.”

One of the show’s main storylines was the love triangle between Pacey, Joey (Katie Holmes) and Dawson (James Van Der Beek). It caused fan wars between those who championed Pacey and those who were “Team Dawson.”

“No offense to Dawson, but it was all about Pacey,” she said.
