Josh Reynolds makes STUNNING NRL comeback as Bulldogs offer him a lifeline

Josh Reynolds has sealed his fairy tale return to Canterbury after the NRL outfit offered the veteran a place in their 30-man squad for the new season.

The 33-year-old had a training and trial agreement with the club and was set to battle younger players for a place in Cameron Ciraldo’s group ahead of the 2023 campaign.

However, the new Bulldogs manager has rewarded Reynolds for his enthusiasm and drive with a full-time contract, sealing his return to the club.

Josh Reynolds has been offered a spot on the Bulldogs’ 30-man roster for the 2023 season.

The veteran is aiming for a fairy tale return to the top of the NRL with his beloved Canterbury.

Reynolds is a fan favourite, having dazzled with the Bulldogs during their 2011-2017 spell, before playing for the Tigers and Hull FC where his form fell off dramatically.

He was also embroiled in controversy off the field when his ex-girlfriend, Arabella Del Busso, faked a pregnancy to discourage him from leaving her.

Ciraldo and team principal Phil Gould told Reynolds of their decision in Belmore this week, with the coach revealing that the team was delighted to learn the 33-year-old will stay.

“It’s something we’ve been thinking about for a few weeks, and we were able to give Josh the good news Saturday at Belmore Sportsground after our field session,” Ciraldo said.

“We announced it to the playgroup, which gave the guys a huge boost after a hard few weeks of training.

“We talked in the morning about what kind of team we wanted to be, and we felt it was a good way to end the training session by saying that the qualities that Josh Reynolds brings to the team is what our team wants to show.” .’

The boys were very excited and jumped on him. We did him no favors, he worked hard and he deserves this opportunity,’ he said.

“We felt the leadership that he brings to the team and his competitiveness, that’s what we wanted to infect the team with, but it was up to him to show us that his body could take everything,” Ciraldo said.

And he has done very well in that sense. He has shown us that he can be a very valuable asset to the team this year, so there was no point in waiting any longer. We wanted to give him the confidence we have in him and that’s why we announced it.’
