Josh Brolin reveals he uses nicotine pouches 24 hours a day and will even pop them when he’s SLEEPING

Josh Brolin has revealed he is so addicted to nicotine patches that he even inserts them when he sleeps.

The 56-year-old actor, who previously spoke openly about his battle with alcohol addiction, used to chew tobacco and take nicotine tablets, but can now no longer do without patches, even when he sleeps.

He said on Thursday’s episode of Marc Maron’s WTF podcast: ‘I have a bag in my lip and I don’t lie, 24 hours a day. Then I started taking them out and putting them on the bedside table.

The star, who is married to third husband Kathryn, 36, said his partner saw him appear in a sleeping spot while he was in a deep sleep.

He said: ‘My wife heard this in the middle of the night. I don’t even know I’m doing it, I’m sleeping.’

The father of four added: ‘My kid picked it up when he was two years old, which basically means, maybe there’s no nicotine, maybe there’s no danger, but if she puts it in her mouth, she’ll get sick.

“And instead of quitting, I try to teach them, ‘Don’t do that. Dad needs that.”

Discussing his use of nicotine tablets, he said: ‘They disappear in two seconds, but they taste like gasoline and they pack a punch. But I always kept them between my gums and my tooth line.

‘I have seven holes. That’s why I switched to [pouches]. There’s a lot of sugar [in lozenges].’

The Men In Black III star revealed that he was once so desperate for nicotine while filming in Jordan that he ended up taking a huge dose after a local trader offered it.

He said, ‘We’re in Jordan, and he comes up to me and says, “I’ve got some of these,” and it has a skull and crossbones on the top, and they’re 40-milligram packs. And I said, “I can’t do that.”

‘I stopped putting the thing in my mouth, and I swear to my children, for no more than 20 seconds, and I had to cancel dinner that night’ – adding that he became extremely unwell.

Initially, Boyd worked as Brolin’s assistant over a decade ago, but things would finally turn romantic between the two in March 2013.

The couple would date for over three years before deciding to make their union legal and tie the knot in September 2016.

About eight months later, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together, daughter Westlyn, five, followed by the arrival of her sister Chapel, three.

Brolin is also father to two adult children – daughter Eden, 29, and son Trevor, 35 – from his first marriage to actress Alice Adair.

He was married to actress Diane Lane from 2004 to 2013.
