EXCLUSIVE

A bus driver accused of sexually abusing disabled children has hit out after being questioned about the allegations by Daily Mail Australia.

Joseph Raymond Saba, 51, is alleged to have abused two girls aged 13 and 14 while driving them to a school in Western Sydney between January 30 and June 6 this year.

He was arrested last Monday at 10am and charged with six counts of alleged intentional sexual contact of a child between the ages of 10 and 16.

Saba appeared in Blacktown District Court later that day, where he was granted conditional bail.

Since his arrest, Saba has been staying with a relative to avoid the media presence at his Greystanes home.

When approached by a Daily Mail Australia reporter outside a relative’s home on Thursday, the grizzled Saba refused to speak openly about the allegations against him.

“Get away,” he yelled, wearing a gray hoodie over a black T-shirt, matching sweatpants and black sneakers, his right fist and forearm strangely encased in a plastic bag.

“Don’t talk to me!”

Company records obtained by Daily Mail Australia show Saba has been operating a haulage business as a sole proprietor for almost 20 years.

The company was registered under the name Paradise Transport, but changed its name to JS Courier Services in July.

Neighbours told Daily Mail Australia they were shocked to hear of Saba’s arrest.

They said Saba, who is nicknamed “Joe,” appeared “friendly” and waved to locals when he and his partner went out to walk the dog.

The arrest came just weeks after the NSW Police’s State Crime Command’s Child Abuse Squad launched an investigation in August following reports that a bus driver had abused children with disabilities.

Under the terms of his bail, Saba must report to police twice a week and is not allowed to come within 100 meters of the school.

He is also not allowed to attempt to contact his alleged victims or witnesses from the Public Prosecution Service.

He must appear in court again on September 19.
