José Mourinho struggles to hide his anger at a reporter who asked ‘Why wasn’t it a special night for The Special One’ in an awkward viral interview after Roma lost at RB Salzburg?

- It was Nicolás Capaldo’s winning goal in the 88th minute that made the difference
- José Mourinho was furious with the questions he was asked after the game
Jose Mourinho was thunder-faced after Roma’s loss to RB Salzburg and reacted furiously to questions asked during his post-match interview.
Roma suffered a 1-0 loss to Salzburg in the Europa League tie on Thursday night. It was Nicolás Capaldo’s game-winning goal in the 88th minute that made the difference.
Matthias Jaissle added salt to Mourinho’s wounds by recreating the Portuguese manager’s infamous touchline celebration from the 2003-2004 season.
Jaissle ran down the touchline to celebrate Salzburg’s goal, replicating the moment Mourinho galloped off after Porto’s Champions League-winning goal at Old Trafford.
Mourinho did not see the funny side of Jaissle’s celebration and sulked on the Roma bench. He brought the same negative energy to his post-game interview.

The reporter began the interview with Mourinho by saying: “We are here with the special, but it was not a special night tonight.” What was that for?’.
Mourinho was irritated by the question and refused to answer. Instead, he stared back at the reporter in disgust before looking at the other staff members present.
Mourinho’s silence made the reporter ask: ‘Can you hear me?’ Before telling his teammates: ‘I don’t think he can hear me.’
The reporter decided to repeat her question saying, ‘Why wasn’t it a special night?’ To which Mourinho responded by saying ‘Why wasn’t what?’ with a frown on her face.
The reporter reiterated her question, saying: ‘It wasn’t a special night for you. What was that for?’. Mourinho seemed surprised by the question and shrugged before saying: ‘I don’t understand your question.’
The awkward exchange went viral on social media, with the video appearing on TikTok, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
However, Sky Sports managed to conduct a separate interview with Mourinho. They managed to extract more information than the reporter in the video.
Mourinho sulked on the Roma bench and brought the same negative energy into his post-match interview.
“This is football,” Mourinho said in his post-match interview with Sky Sports. ‘I think we dominated the game. We were always in control of a very calm game for us.
‘We missed some very easy chances tonight. And be careful, there is a clear penalty for us in the first half. We were unlucky. Conceding goals in the last minutes is unfair.
“We are improving, but if you don’t put the ball in the back of the net there is always the risk of losing.
‘We know who we are, we know our limits. You won’t hear me say anything bad when the team gives it their all on the pitch. That is the case tonight.
