Jose Mourinho is in ‘advanced negotiations’ to become the next PSG manager ‘this summer’

Jose Mourinho is reportedly in ‘advanced talks’ to become Paris Saint-Germain’s next manager.

The Portuguese coach is currently plying his trade at Roma, but there is some uncertainty about his future at the club with negotiations over his existing contract, which expires in 2024 and is yet to be confirmed.

But according to RMC SportsPSG director “Luis Campos has spoken with the agent of the two-time Champions League winner about a possible arrival this summer.”

The Spanish outlet also reports that “negotiations are well advanced” between Campos and Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes, while also suggesting that the “Roma coach is also interested in PSG”.

After joining Roma in 2021, Mourinho led the club to a European trophy last season after they clinched the Europa Conference League title.

Roma are currently seventh in the standings. Mourinho’s side have won 17 and lost 10 of their 34 games this season, as well as not winning in their last four appearances.

Reports also suggest PSG are looking to replace current boss Christophe Galtier

Disagreements over transfers also erupted at the club, with Mourinho demanding the Serie A club bring in three new players as replacements for Tammy Abraham should the striker leave this summer.

Mail Sport also understands that Mourinho would be open to a sensational return to Chelsea amid frustrations over a lack of financial backing at Roma.

Meanwhile, RMC Sport say PSG are ‘looking’ to a new coach to take over from Christophe Galtier’ and have also been in contact with representatives from Thiago Motta and Julian Nagelsmann.

Galtier recently “denied” wrongdoing after allegedly making racist remarks about several of his players.

On the pitch, Paris has struggled to achieve expected goals and crashed out of the Champions League despite reigning supreme at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

They were beaten 3-0 on aggregate by Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the tournament, marking a disappointing and disappointing end to their European Cup run this season.

After stuttering several times this season, the club were crowned French champions, albeit in muted circumstances, after drawing 1-1 against second-placed side Lens in April.

Concerns are also rising over the morale of some of their key players, with Mail Sport reporting in February that members of the senior team are unhappy with the club’s handling of transfers.

Things have been bubbling up at the club for some time, with reports last October that Kylian Mbappé was ‘at the center of a PSG squad’, while more recently the World Cup winner took aim at the club on Instagram for using his image without his permission.

Meanwhile, the club is about to undergo a major rebuild, with growing concerns over Lionel Messi’s future at the club, with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The club suspended him last week after he made an unauthorized visit to the Middle East.

Meanwhile, there is good news as Sergio Ramos recently admitted that he ‘wanted to stay at PSG’ despite also being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

The arrival of a figure of Mourinho’s stature could help the club retain some of their bigger stars and attract more talent to the Parc des Princes.

The 60-year-old has spent time in some of Europe’s top divisions, most notably with Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Manchester United and Tottenham. the Parisians get their hands on a European trophy.
