Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing a move for two out-of-favour Premier League stars when the transfer window opens in January.
The former Chelsea boss has not been shy when it comes to recruiting players from England’s top flight in recent years, with the likes of Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling joining him in the Italian capital.
Roma’s squad currently also includes ex-Chelsea and Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, as well as former Wolves stopper Rui Patricio.
The tactic has worked to varying degrees, with Abraham enjoying great form in his first season before a mediocre second was cruelly cut short by injury.
Undeterred, the Roma boss is reportedly ready to attack a duo struggling for game time at Stamford Bridge under Mauricio Pochettino, according to Calciomercato.

Chelsea defenders Trevoh Chalobah (left) and Malang Sarr (right) are reportedly high on Mourinho’s wish list this winter
Mauricio Pochettino appears to have put together a squad he is confident can take Chelsea to the top of the table after their slow start to this season
The outlet reports that defenders Trevoh Chalobah and Malang Sarr are on his wish list this winter.
Roma may struggle to win the battle for 24-year-old Chalobah, who has been linked with moves to Bayern Munich, Tottenham and Newcastle United in the past 12 months.
The defender has enjoyed great success in the team under Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter over the past two seasons, but Pochettino has found minutes elsewhere this season due to being sidelined with an injury.
Sarr, on the other hand, has failed to break into the first team since joining from the Blues from Ligue 1 club Nice in 2020. The Frenchman has not added to the eight top-flight appearances he made during the 2021-2022 season.
Mourinho and his side have had a difficult start in Serie A and are currently seventh with 18 points from twelve games.
