It seems that Jose Enrique made a blunder when he wanted to offer some of his players to another team.

The former Liverpool and Newcastle defender has reportedly turned football agent after retiring from football in 2016, having previously appeared in the media and as a pundit.

He is known to be quite outspoken on social media and frequently shares his opinions about Liverpool, and was recently singled out by former Reds manager Jurgen Klopp for some of his comments about the club.

Now, however, according to Football ItalyThe former player has continued in the direction he has taken and has been busy this summer closing deals for his players.

According to the report, Enrique made a blunder when trying to contact Lecce coach Luca Gotti, accidentally messaging the wrong account on Instagram.

Jose Enrique has apparently made a big blunder by offering two players to another team

The former defender, who is now apparently an agent, appears to have used Instagram to offer the players a transfer

He thought he was sending a message to Lecce manager Luca Gotti, but in reality he was sending a message to a fan page of the coach

The account he messaged instead is called “Luca Gotti Responds” and has 10,500 followers. Jokes about the events have been shared on the account ever since.

“Hi Luca, I hope you are well and that we had a nice chat,” the message shared online in a screenshot began. “Is Jose Enrique here, a former footballer and football agent?

“I have two players that I think could be interesting for you. Both were signed by me and my brother. Can you let me know what you think? Thank you.”

Enrique then provided two links to transfermarkt.com, one for the profile of Feyenoord player Marcus Pederson and one for Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell.

The posts started circulating online after apparently being shared by the account owner. Enrique himself did not respond to the post.

The 20-year-old Pederson has been playing for Feyenoord since 2021, but played on loan for Sassuolo last year and is now an international for Norway.

Cantwell has been contracted to Rangers since 2023 after joining the club from Norwich City.

Lecce play in Serie A and finished 14th last season, with Gotti as coach since March.

The account that apparently messaged Enrique shared a meme in which he responded to the offer received

Enrique was recently criticised by former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp (left) for comments about his departure

The 56-year-old’s account shared a photo of both players’ transfermarkt.com pages, with an edited photo of Gotti attempting to resuscitate someone. The caption read: ‘Limited to loan with right of repurchase’, ridiculing the players’ prices.

Enrique played for Newcastle between 2007 and 2011 before moving to Liverpool, where he initially played under Brendan Rodgers before Klopp, who released the defender, took charge.

He blamed the club’s owners for Klopp’s departure, to which the German responded in January: ‘I saw Jose Enrique, who I like very much, say it’s about FSG.’ He said: ‘I can absolutely tell you that FSG has nothing to do with it.’
