Alba made 93 appearances for Spain, scoring nine goals and winning Euro 2012 with La Roja.
He last played for Spain when Croatia was defeated on penalties in the Nations League final last June.
Alba made his debut for Spain on October 11, 2011 against Scotland.

Alba competed in the 2014, 2018 and 2022 World Cups for Spain, and also participated in the 2016 and 2020 European Championships.
The left-back’s international retirement will allow him to focus more on Inter Miami, with whom he has already won a trophy following the team’s Leagues Cup victory.
Playing alongside his old friends Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets, Alba helped Miami win the knockout tournament with clubs from the MLS and Mexican Liga MX.
The club also advanced to the final of the US Open Cup by beating FC Cincinnati on penalties.
However, the Herons will find it more difficult to win the MLS Cup.
The club are 11 points behind in the postseason and have just 11 games remaining due to poor play before the arrival of Messi, Busquets and Alba.
Alba made his MLS regular season debut for Miami last weekend as the Herons beat the New York Red Bulls 2-0.
