Jordan Spieth’s wild tee shot saved from the water after hitting a FAN & rolling back onto fairway
Watch the incredible moment Jordan Spieth’s wild tee shot is saved from the water after it hits a FAN and bounces off the fairway… helping him make the cut at the Players Championship!
Things were not going well for Jordan Spieth in the second round of the Players Championship, and if it hadn’t been for a perfectly placed fan, they could have gotten worse.
Facing his last hole of the day sitting at two over par, Spieth needed a birdie to make the projected cut of one over.
But his tee shot went horribly wrong, heading to the right and into the water. However, before he got there, he hit a customer in the knee and bounced across the street.
That set up Spieth with a big second shot that landed just outside the bunker on the right side of the green.
His resulting chip was perfection: going straight for the cup and landing on an eagle to finish his round on par, firmly above the cutoff line.
It wasn’t a great second round for Jordan Spieth as his final tee shot headed into the water.
Luckily for him, his shot caught a fan (blue polo shirt, white cap) in the knee and rolled into the street.
He charged an eagle on that last hole of the day, scoring a poor 75 but sitting above the cutoff line.
Later, Spieth returned to check on the fan and gave him a glove, shouting at him after the round for saving the day.
Literally whatever you want this weekend. Everything from here on out is because she hit him,” Spieth said.
After a 69 in the first round, Spieth’s game faltered that day: he grabbed three bogeys and two double bogeys to post a 75 in the second round.
But the amateur’s knee saved his tournament, and he will move on to the third round tomorrow at TPC Sawgrass in North Florida.
