Jordan Poyer has revealed that his annual charity golf event has been canceled due to withdrawn funding as a result of the venue; Trump National in Doral, Florida.

Poyer took to Instagram on Sunday in open exasperation about the result — and the wider state of America — to tell his followers that golfers and sponsors pulled out “last minute” due to “external pressure.”

The All-Pro said Erie County Medical Center — a hospital in Buffalo that he described as a “major sponsor” — pulled out. ECMC told the buffalo news they were a ‘beneficiary’.

“ECMC has decided they can no longer handle the pressure from above, from the people above them, and it probably has nothing to do with ECMC at all,” Poyer said in the lengthy Instagram video.

“I am very grateful and blessed to have worked with the people I have worked with at ECMC over the past two years,” he said before revealing the apparent, underlying reality of the situation.

Poyer would hold the charity event to ‘raise money for the Buffalo community’

‘I’m not naive. I understand where they are on the political spectrum, where New York is on the political spectrum. Do I agree with many? No, I don’t. I’m sorry, but I don’t.

“I often say the quiet part out loud and some of you don’t like that. My mistake. I was still going to put my ego aside and go help those who needed help or needed a laugh.”

The executive director of the ECMC foundation told The News on Saturday; ECMC Foundation was fortunate to be a beneficiary of Jordan Poyer’s golf tournament in Florida. While the Foundation was not a sponsor, we have had an excellent working relationship with Jordan and respect his decision to cancel his tournament; we hope he will consider supporting us at his future events.”

According to the ECMC Foundation’s website, its mission is to “improve higher education for career success among underserved populations through evidence-based innovation.”

Poyer admitted, though he was “a little” upset by the situation, that he was more saddened by the state of the US

“I’m angry that this is where we are in America… Seems like our egos are getting in the way of us being a good person,” he continued in the Instagram video. [Not] sharing love, sharing conversations, laughing with people who may not believe in the same things you do, it’s a huge problem in America right now.”

“I can tuck my ego away any day of the week to help someone who might be white, black, Asian, Puerto Rican, Dominican, believe in this, believe in that. It helps others. It’s about sharing those experiences and being open about that we’re not perfect.

The All-Pro admitted he was not “naive” about why certain players and sponsors “withdrew”

The Poyer Foundation and the agency representing him issued a joint statement on Sunday

Trump’s Doral Florida golf course was home to the Miami LIV Golf Invitational in October 2022

‘No one is perfect… The point is we need each other. Are we arguing about (things) that don’t matter?’

Avalon Sports, representing the All-Pro, released a statement detailing the merits of the event, which no one will receive in 2023.

“The tournament is a charity initiative that Jordan has been working on for the past six months. Our main goal was to raise money for the Buffalo community,” the statement read.

The ‘This Year’ (sic) event was held at one of Jordan’s favorite golf courses in South Florida. The Blue Monster at Trump National in Doral, Florida. This is a PGA course where Tiger Woods won The Doral Open two years in a row in 2005 and 2006.”

Poyer founded his eponymous foundation on May 17, 2022 with the “mentality of supporting people struggling with mental health and substance abuse of any kind.” Its mission is to ensure that there is “support and education for individuals and families affected by substance abuse.”
