According to reports, Jordan Henderson is still yet to see out his £350,000-a-week contract at Al-Ettifaq.
The England midfielder has terminated his contract with Steven Gerrard’s Saudi Pro League side and will return to Europe after agreeing a free transfer to struggling Eredivisie giants Ajax.
The former Liverpool captain spent just six months in Saudi Arabia, with reports suggesting his family were unable to settle, which would be one of the reasons for his return to Europe.
However, it’s not as simple as signing a deal with a new club in Europe, and now Henderson is facing a tax bill worth millions as a result of the sensational turnaround after just six months.
Now the Telegraph reports that the player has not yet received a penny of his mouth-watering £350,000-a-week wages after deferring payments for the past six months.

Worse still, the report suggests that, according to some sources close to the player, there is a belief that Henderson will never get what he is owed.
It is believed that the reason for delaying his wages was for tax reasons, reportedly in part to return to Britain and represent England.
British law states that any person who spends more than 90 days in the country is considered a resident for tax purposes.
The Telegraph adds that the player was believed to have been told he would spend three weeks pro rata in Britain to still be considered a non-resident, with the restriction on his ability to spend time at home a key reason before the postponement. .
As such, he will still see a penny of the money he made during his short stint in Saudi Arabia, and sources claim it is unlikely he ever will.
Mail Sport initially reported that Henderson was eyeing a move away from Al-Ettifaq, before his contract was ultimately terminated by mutual agreement on Tuesday.
The Saudi club are understood to have reluctantly agreed to Henderson’s departure during negotiations at the club’s winter training camp in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, with the 33-year-old gaining the crucial concession that they would not demand compensation.
Henderson has represented himself in the negotiations and is expected to conclude a deal with Ajax in the coming days. An agreement has yet to be reached on the length of his contract, but that is not seen as a sticking point.

The Dutch giants have been working hard to secure a deal for Henderson, with interim coach John van’t Schip confirming their interest following his side’s victory over Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday.
