Jordan Banjo’s pregnant wife Naomi discusses ‘stigma’ of her planned C -section ahead of third child

She is expecting her third child with husband Jordan Banjo later this month.

And Naomi Banjo took to Instagram on Friday to share a pregnancy update before discussing the “stigma” of her planned C-section.

The mom-to-be beamed as she posed in front of a full-length mirror to show off her blossoming belly.

Beaming for the camera, Naomi, who also shares Cassius, four, and Mimi, three with her husband, donned a green sports bra and beige pants with her dark brown locks tied back in a ponytail.

She captioned the short video: ‘Choking date, I turned 38 weeks earlier this week and I may have my last midwife appointment today, after many long talks and meetings i decided to go ahead with a planned caesarean because my last pregnancy was a rupture and the complications that came with it meant this is just a safer option for us’.

Honestly: She then discussed the

“It’s not the water birth I had hoped for as I had [son Cassius] but it means I can meet my baby in the safest way, which is the most important thing’

She continued, “I’m just thankful and taking with me all the positives of knowing when and how my baby will be delivered, so for now I’m counting down the few days until we meet your little one.”

Naomi then added: ‘Ps I always like to be honest about this and I know there is a lot of stigma around birth and planned caesarean sections…’

So I’m here for the mummas who feel a way to let you know I’m joining you soon with my 2nd scheduled section too…. a safe delivery is always the best delivery’.

Last month shares with her followers that she struggles with SPD (symphysis pubis dysfunction), a condition common in pregnant women.

SPD can cause pain and discomfort in the pelvic area, lower abdomen, back, groin, perineum, thigh, and leg.

Naomi reached out to her 185,000 followers asking for help and advice when she shared that she was left “in agony” at night by the pain.

And when she shared a lovely photo of herself and Jordan in the post, Naomi shared that it was taken just days before they found out she was pregnant.

The brunette admitted the pregnancy was her fastest of all three and wondered where the past eight months have gone.

She wrote: ‘I can’t believe we can actually say we’re having a baby next month!! Watttt! where did the time go! Probably the fastest pregnancy of my life. I remember this photo had no idea that in a few days we would find out we were expecting our 3rd baby!

“And here we are… in a little over a month. feels magical and we are so excited! I’m so ready now!’

But adding that things weren’t smooth sailing, she described the agonizing pelvic pain she’s been experiencing for the past few weeks.

Continued: “Although I’m insanely tired because I’ve been up all night with pelvic pain!” Please can someone give me some tips other than pregnancy pillow etc… how do I support SPD at night.

“I am in agony and it keeps me awake, any secret tips I can try I would be so incredibly grateful. ps hospital/doctors etc are aware and have given me strong medication but I don’t feel like it. It’s really making me sick and I’m really a ‘go for a ride’ girl, but I’m struggling and it’s starting to get to me now.’

SPD pain usually goes away a few months after giving birth, giving mothers options for managing the pain rather than removing it.

When a woman is pregnant, the body produces the hormone relaxin, which causes the ligaments in the joint between the left and right pelvic bones to relax more, meaning it can move more and cause more pain.

Sports injuries can also cause this pain, as the pelvic joints are affected during the accident.

Naomi and Jordan learned they would be welcoming their third child in 2022 and shared the joyful news with a sweet post on social media.

And it looks like no kids are currently on the radar for the couple as Jordan underwent a vasectomy earlier this year.

Naomi filmed Jordan walking tenderly back to his car after the reversible procedure in which the tubes that carry a man’s sperm are cut to prevent pregnancy.

Naomi was heard laughing as Jordan gave a seemingly forced smile before asking him if he was okay, to which he nervously replied “yes.”

When Naomi then asked him if he was sure everything was okay, he said “yes, positively” before insisting that the procedure wasn’t “bad.”

Laughing, he explained, “The pain is not the problem. The problem is when you’re so scared that you have a nipple instead of a penis between your legs and the nurse tries to stick it on your stomach but there’s not much to stick so she actually puts a piece of tape on it. ‘

Looking a bit pained, Naomi then said, “In you get hun,” as Jordan very carefully lowered himself into the car.

WHAT ARE THE MEDICAL REASONS FOR AC SECTION?

There are several reasons why a doctor may recommend a cesarean section instead of giving birth vaginally.

If you have had complications during a previous pregnancy or delivery, or during your current pregnancy, you may be advised to have what is known as a planned or elective cesarean section or a planned repeat cesarean section.

If you planned to give birth vaginally, but complications during labor or delivery mean that you are advised to give birth via cesarean section, you have what is known as an unplanned cesarean section or an emergency cesarean section.

Here are some reasons why doctors may opt for a planned cesarean section or an emergency cesarean section instead of a vaginal delivery:

  • You have already had at least one cesarean section;
  • Your baby is in a breech or breech position;
  • Your baby is in a sideways (transverse) position or keeps changing position (unstable position);
  • you have a low-lying placenta (placenta praevia);
  • You have a medical condition, such as heart disease or diabetes;
  • You have lost a baby in the past, before or during childbirth;
  • You are expecting twins or more;
  • Your baby isn’t growing as well as it should in your womb;
  • You have severe preeclampsia or eclampsia, which makes delaying labor dangerous.
