Joondalup woman, 27, charged with stabbing a man in suspected domestic violence

A woman charged with the alleged murder of a man during a suspected domestic violence incident has appeared in court.

The man was fatally stabbed in an apartment on Plaistow Street in Joondalup, about 28 kilometers north of Perth, just before 9pm on Thursday.

Lauren Vivian Brown faced the Perth Magistrates Court on Saturday after being charged over the man’s death.

The 27-year-old woman burst into tears when she appeared in court.

Ms Brown remains in custody after failing to apply for bail.

She heard the murder charge read in court, which she acknowledged.

The deceased man, believed to be in his 30s, was found in a serious condition with large stab wounds.

Paramedics from St John Ambulance WA rushed to the unit to try to save the man, but he died at the scene.

It was believed Ms Brown and the man were in a relationship.

Witnesses claimed they saw a pregnant woman running down the street before the man was discovered in critical condition.

A neighbor Shane Dinsdale told it The Western Australia He heard a loud scream from a woman in the apartment around 9 p.m. on Thursday.

“Initially, when I heard a few little shouts, I thought, ‘This is annoying,’ but by the end it was quite full,” Mr Dinsdale said.

‘I didn’t hear any man shouting. I just stuck my head out, but there were police and ambulances, so I probably figured it out.”

Another neighbor who lives next to the apartment, Richard King, said he heard a woman screaming for help.

“I didn’t know if it was domestic violence or something else,” he said.
