Jonnie Irwin shares insight from his impressive family trip to Marrakech after revealing that A Place In The Sun was unable to obtain travel insurance to keep him on the show following his terminal cancer diagnosis.

Jonnie Irwin is enjoying a family getaway to Marrakesh this week and has been keeping fans posted about the trip via social media.

The 49-year-old TV presenter shared a clip of the beautiful scenery of the Moroccan city on Thursday, leaning over the man driving him to take the photo while joking: “Let me know when this gets awkward.”

It comes after he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in August 2020, which later spread to his brain.

YA Place In The Sun decided not to renew his performing contract following the news as they claimed they were unable to get the correct insurance for him to travel for the show.

Jonnie shared a collection of videos on his Instagram Stories showing the scenery from his car window.

“About two minutes ago,” the friend said as Jonnie flipped the camera to show himself leaning over and squishing him.

She also shared videos on her Instagram grid, giving a glimpse of her beautiful home for the trip while showing off the light blue outdoor pool.

And rushing to the comments, a large handful of her 139,000 followers wished the star a good trip, saying she “deserves it,” calling it “inspirational.”

While recently he also enjoyed a trip to Paris with his wife Jess Holmes, whom he married in 2016.

Jonnie revealed last month that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020 and only had 6 months to live.

And the presenter was heartbroken after revealing the diagnosis to his bosses on A Place In The Sun, who then fired him from the presenting role.

Free Form Productions, which makes the show, said they were “unable to secure adequate insurance coverage” for him to continue filming internationally amid the Covid-19 crisis and said they understood his “frustration” over the decision.

A statement sent to MailOnline read: “Jonnie has been a very important part of the A Place In The Sun family for over 18 years and all of us are deeply saddened by his diagnosis.”

“Beloved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned to allow Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid, but the production company was unable to secure adequate insurance coverage for him.”
