A Place In The Sun star Jonnie Irwin has detailed a ‘torrid night of grief’ that left him on a dose of painkillers amid his ongoing battle with terminal cancer.
The 49-year-old TV presenter has been keeping his 141,000 Instagram followers in the loop about his daily wellness, and managed to get out into the English countryside over the weekend to get some fresh air between treatments.
But this was not without a night of poor health for Jonnie, who revealed that he had been out for a bike ride after taking a lot of medication.

Writing on his social media profile, Jonnie said: “After a torrid night in pain, I had a dose of PK and was able to enjoy the beautiful lakes via E-mtb.”
“I’ll probably pay for it later, but I’m thankful for the window, the company, and the weather.”

She also took to her Instagram stories to tell her fans: “After a terrible night’s sleep, up and down and taking painkillers… oh, it was just awful.” It is a beautiful day.

“So I have a steroid inside me and a few more painkillers and I’m determined to make the most of this.”
The TV star recently enjoyed a family getaway to Marrakech last week and has been keeping fans in the loop about the trip via social media.
Jonnie shared a clip of the Moroccan city’s beautiful scenery on Thursday, leaning over the man driving it to take the photo as he quipped: “Let me know when this gets awkward.”
It comes after he revealed that he was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal lung cancer in August 2020, which later spread to his brain.
Travel: Jonnie Irwin has been enjoying some family time with getaways to Paris and Marrakech for the past few weeks.
YA Place In The Sun decided not to renew his performing contract following the news as they claimed they were unable to get the correct insurance for him to travel for the show.
Jonnie shared a collection of videos on his Instagram Stories showing the scenery from his car window.
Jonnie revealed last month that he was diagnosed with terminal cancer in 2020 and only had 6 months to live.
And the presenter was heartbroken after revealing the diagnosis to his bosses on A Place In The Sun, who then fired him from the presenting role.

Free Form Productions, which makes the show, said they were “unable to secure adequate insurance coverage” for him to continue filming internationally amid the Covid-19 crisis and said they understood his “frustration” over the decision.
A statement sent to MailOnline read: “Jonnie has been a very important part of the A Place In The Sun family for over 18 years and all of us are deeply saddened by his diagnosis.”
“Beloved by everyone on the production, no stone was left unturned to allow Jonnie to continue his international filming with us during Covid, but the production company was unable to secure adequate insurance coverage for him.”
“While we were unable to continue filming abroad with him, we are delighted that he was able to remain as part of our team in the UK for exhibitions. Of course, we understand how frustrating this must be for him at this incredibly difficult time.
The former estate agent’s television career began in 2004 when he was selected from hundreds of applicants to co-present Channel 4’s A Place in the Sun with Jasmine Harman.
He was the show’s longest-serving host, along with Jasmine, who is still on the show.
