Folk icon Joni Mitchell has been pictured after confirming her first headlining concert in over 23 years.
The 78-year-old music legend beamed with happiness while having lunch with friends in Beverly Hills on Friday.
When the photographer asked her what she was most excited about, the A Case Of You singer replied, “Be alive.”

She also reaffirmed that she would be taking the stage just days after her boyfriend, singer Brandi Carlile, announced her upcoming 2023 concert.
True to her folk reputation, Joni embraced a hippie-chic style for her outing with friends.
She wore a pretty sheer floral print top and billowy blue pants. Her long hair was woven into two braids that fell down the front of her body like a waterfall.
Joni also injected a touch of glamor with a bold red lip, gold jewelry and dangling earrings. She even rocked a crimson manicure.

Singer Brandi Carlile announced last week that Joni would perform on June 10, 2023 at the Gorge Amphitheater, a Washington state venue east of Seattle.
“I can’t believe it’s happening, but it’s happening,” Carlile told The Daily Show. “And she’s going to crush it.”
It’s her first headlining act in over 23 years, following a surprise return to the stage in August after Carlile raised her at the Newport Folk Festival.

Mitchell battled an aneurysm in 2015 and hadn’t performed a full show in public in two decades with her last headlining show in the 2000 Both Sides Now tour.
In Newport, they replicated a periodic jam session with musical friends that takes place at Mitchell’s California home.
She sang and played guitar on favorites such as A Case of You, Both Sides Now and The Circle Game, as well as some standards.

When they took the stage with musicians like Carlile, Wynonna Judd and Marcus Mumford, the band wasn’t quite sure how much Mitchell would like to sing.
“She completely took over the show and became the artist we all know she is,” said Carlile. ‘We didn’t go to sleep that night. We stayed up until the sun came up. Joni, frankly, loves to perform and she’s great at it.’
“She’s as good at it now as she was,” Carlile added.

Big news! Last week, Brandi Carlile announced that Joni would be performing at the Gorge Amphitheater on June 10, 2023, in what will be her first headlining act in over 23 years.
Mitchell left the experience and wanted to be back on the podium, Carlile said.
The Gorge appealed to Mitchell for its beauty and proximity to Canada, where she grew up.
The location is also home to Carlile, who lives in Washington State.
Carlile will be performing there on June 9 and opening for Mitchell the following evening on June 10, she said.
“In twenty years no one has been able to buy a ticket to see Joni Mitchell play. So this is huge,” Carlile said.
