A young chef plotted to bring an American woman to Australia so they could have a baby together and be sexually abused “from birth, so it’s normal for them.”

Jonathon Lester Edwards, 34, from Bairnsdale in eastern Victoria, was arrested in December 2021 after AFP investigators raided his home following a tip-off from the US-based National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The organization had monitored sickening online chats the chef shared with other pedophiles, in which he described his depraved fantasies of raping and torturing children.

Edwards devised a depraved plan with an American woman named Nadia to take her to regional Victoria to impregnate her.

He offered to pay for half of her flight and said she could live on the rent for free.

The couple even discussed having one home birth, so that the authorities would not know the baby existed.

‘I definitely think it’s important to start there. From birth, so it’s normal for them,” Edwards messaged Nadia.

Some of his proposed atrocities are too disturbing to publish.

During the 2019 raid, police found at least 6,388 files containing videos and images of child sexual abuse on five of Edwards’ devices, organized by gender and age of the children exploited in the material.

In August 2022, Edwards pleaded guilty to two counts of accessing and transferring child abuse material and one count of possession of child abuse material. ABC.

Shockingly, he remained on bail until a fortnight ago, where he continued to live and work in the Bairnsdale community.

During the 2019 raid, police found at least 6,388 files containing videos and images of child sexual abuse, organized by gender and age of the children exploited in the material, on five of Edwards’ (photo) devices.

Judge Amanda Chambers handed Edwards a 20-month prison sentence in the Melbourne Country Court on Wednesday and reminded him of his “sadistic” plans.

“You said, ‘I prefer toddlers to 10-year-olds because they can tell what’s going on and what trouble they’re in,'” Judge Chambers said.

“You discussed in explicit and disgusting terms the sexual activities you would engage in with your captured child, including several violent and degrading sexual acts.

‘You said: ‘I’m a very normal guy outside the bedroom with good friends, family and a job, part of sports clubs… but behind closed doors we could make our dreams come true.’

At an earlier plea hearing in Latrobe Valley County Court, Attorney General Jake Morrison said Edwards’ offending had real, knock-on effects.

“The nature of the material transferred and seized in this case is, in the Crown’s view, of a highly depraved nature,” he said.

“Sharing the material fuels the market for it, but it also continues to victimize the individuals depicted in the material.”
