Jonathan Ross reveals he failed to spot one of his best friends on stage in the Masked Singer

Jonathan Ross has revealed that he didn’t get to see one of his best friends on set in The Masked Singer.

The 62-year-old chat show host is a panelist on the show along with Mo Gilligan, Rita Ora and Davina McCall, and they all have to find out who the 12 celebrities behind the mask are.

Speaking about an upcoming mystery moment on the show, Jonathan admitted that it was “a bit embarrassing” not to have realized who a person was because he texts them a lot and they know each other socially.

Despite his mistake, he said that celebrity was something the entire panel and viewers at home should have gotten as he teased an upcoming reveal on the show.

The popular quiz show, which returned to screens this month, is now in its fourth series, with new characters including a dustbin, an otter and a baked potato.

There will also be two themed episodes: one on festivals and one on looking back over the decades.

According to Jonathan, when ‘detectives’ have an idea in their head about who someone is going to be, they struggle to get away from it and think about other people.

Instead, he said the panelists end up going back to their strongest guess.

Mo, 34, a host and comedian, said about the upcoming fourth season: There is an identity that will be revealed in the show that surprised me a lot. You could have been running the show for two years and still no one would have understood.

He added that the clues become obvious when the celebrity is unmasked, but it will be interesting for the public to guess.

For the festival episode, the chat show host opted for a tracksuit with wellington boots and face paint.

But Mo was wearing a blue suit, which prompted Jonathan to jokingly say that he was going to a real estate agent’s festival.

All the panelists then managed to convince Mo to wear a rainbow-colored hairnet that was originally given to Jonathan for the episode.

Jonathan joked that it can be ‘irritating’ because Mo looks amazing in whatever she wears.

Mo also wore a shiny hat during the series, something he was proud of.

Talking about the audience that watches their show, the men shared that the kids love it.

They explained that children love to see the characters come out and want them to see it through to the end.

Mo added that they enjoy the fun and fresh aspect of the show as it is different every time.

The Masked Singer is on ITV1 and ITVX, Saturday at 7pm
