Jonathan Owens gushes over wife Simone Biles in Paris after leading Team USA triumph: ‘Gold medal baby!’

Jonathan Owens didn’t hold back as a cheerleader as his wife and American gymnastics legend Simone Biles led her team to the top of the podium on Tuesday.

The US team won gold in the artistic gymnastics group final in Paris, beating rivals Italy and Brazil.

While Biles was at her best, the American total of 171.296 miles was well ahead of the runners-up. It capped a year-long run in which Biles cemented her reputation as the best ever in her sport and one of the best in Olympic history.

Hours after the win, Owens posted photos with Biles as the celebrations continued. The pair posed as he wore his wife’s medal. They also shared a celebratory kiss in the second slide.

“Every time you step onto the mat you are witnessing history,” Owens wrote. “Congratulations, honey, on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!!”

‘Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! I’m so thankful I was there.’

Wearing a Biles graphic tee, Owens shared his support by cheering from the sidelines and posting on his Instagram Story how his significant other made history. Owens was seated next to Biles’ parents, Nellie and Ron Biles.

As the team was crowned, Owens filmed them from the stands before turning to the screen showing the final scores. “Gold medal, baby!!!!!” he wrote.

Owens also posted a selfie with Biles after the event.

Additionally, Owens shared posts from Bleacher Report and Team USA’s accounts celebrating Biles’ milestone.

After parting ways with the Green Bay Packers, Owens joined the Chicago Bears, who gave the St. Louis native the green light to fly to France while the rest of the team prepares for the season.

Owens has previously been criticized by the general public for claiming he was the “catch” in their relationship and for admitting he was unaware of Biles’ notoriety until they met on the dating app Raya during the pandemic.

Still, Biles was quick to tune out the noise and block out the crowd’s negativity. As for Owens, he was his bride’s No. 1 hype man as she returned to the world stage after pulling out of the 2021 Tokyo Games.

Eight years after winning gold in Rio with a group that called Aly Raisman her grandmother because she was only 22, Biles — now 27 and married — was back with Jade Carey (24), Jordan Chiles (23), Suni Lee (21) and teenager Hezly Rivera at her side.

“We don’t need to be put in a box anymore,” Biles said.

Biles now has an astonishing 38 medals in major international competitions, eight of which have come under the Olympic rings, surpassing Shannon Miller for the most U.S. female gymnasts.

“She’s the greatest,” said Chiles, who now has gold, in addition to the silver she, Lee and Biles won as a team in Tokyo.
