Jon Stewart is accused of bumping the value of his NYC penthouse by 829 PERCENT after ranting about Trump overvaluing his properties and telling viewers tax avoidance ‘is not victimless’
Jon Stewart lashed out at online haters who called him a hypocrite for increasing the value of his New York City penthouse by 829 percent after blasting Donald Trump for overvaluing his properties.
Stewart, who returned to The Daily Show earlier this year as a once-a-week host, blasted Trump and his allies for calling Trump’s tax avoidance scheme a victimless crime.
The fraud lawsuit brought by James accuses the Republican front-runner for president of inflating the value of properties, including his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida, to get better terms on loans.
The comic responded specifically to Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary’s statement, adding that “every real estate developer everywhere” is doing what Trump is doing.
“How can he not be so angry about the overvaluations in the real world? Because they are not victimless crimes,” Stewart said.

“The New York Attorney General knew that Trump’s property values were inflated because when it came time to pay taxes, Trump undervalued the very same properties,” he continued. “It was all part of a very specific real estate practice known as lying.”
He added that “the system is incentivized for corruption” if you behave as Trump allegedly did.
Some on social media responded by showing that Stewart himself had seen his former home overvalued by 829 percent, according to the New York Post.
Stewart sold a duplex in Tribeca to financier Parag Pande in 2014 for $17.5 million.
Although the asking price is not available at the time, the estimated market value at the time was just $1.882 million and the accessories appraisal was just under $850,000.
Pande sold the property in 2021 at a 25 percent loss for more than $13 million.
The records also allege that Stewart paid less in property taxes because he paid them based on the appraiser’s appraisal price, which did not reach the seven figures.
Many conservatives wondered about the difference between what New York Attorney General Letitia James Trump fined and what Stewart did.

Stewart responded to the stories with a sarcastic rant, referencing the other accusations against Trump posted on his X-page.
He exclaimed, “OMG!! I got caught doing something that didn’t even remotely resemble Trump!’
‘I guess all I have to do now is set up a fraud school, steal secret documents, bankrupt casinos, pay hush money, take p*****s, discriminate in housing, cheat at golf and stir up rebellion and you will honor me!’
Stewart’s anger at Trump predates his full entry into politics, dating back to Stewart’s first appearance on The Daily Show.
Trump launched a nasty tirade against Stewart in 2013, saying the comedian is hiding from his past because he changed his last name from Lebowitz to Stewart.
The scathing messages on Twitter came after the Comedy Central host joked that Trump, then a leading voice in the Birther Movement, had a secret of his own and claimed the mogul’s real birth name was F***face von Clownstick.
Trump was not amused by the insult and says Stewart is the one essentially hiding from his past, as the cable host has long been estranged from his biological father.
