Jon Rahm is forced to pull out of Players Championship

World No. 1 and Players Championship favorite Jon Rahm is forced to WITHDRAW from the tournament before the second round due to illness.

World No. 1 Jon Rahm withdrew from the Players Championship before the second round due to illness.

The Spaniard has been in sensational form and was the favorite to claim another PGA Tour title at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Florida this week.

He checked out around 30 minutes before his departure time with what his manager referred to as a “bad stomach bug.”

He finished the first day seven shots behind leader Chad Ramey after posting a 1-under 71 in the first round on Thursday.

Rahm arrived at the flagship event of the traditional circuit already looking for his fourth victory of the season.

He’s finished in the top 10 in six of his seven PGA Tour starts this season and was due to tee off Friday afternoon alongside fellow major champions Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
