Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has hinted at a return to the octagon this December after two years without a fight.

The 35-year-old previously held the title from 2011-15 and 2018-2020, although he is now looking to make his debut as a heavweight.

Despite the lengthy absence since his last fight, Jones is still 11th in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings.

He recently took to Twitter to share his plans or the future, posting: ‘My goal, my dream is to have my first heavyweight title fight look like my first light heavyweight title fight. Pure domination.’

Jones also gave a timescale to his planned return, with two tweets about this December’s UFC 282.

The fighter’s first title win came in an impressive display in 2011, as he beat Maurício  Rua by TKO in the third round. It made him the youngest ever UFC champion.

After winning the title for a second time, ‘Bones’ vacated it when he expressed his wish to move up a weight class in 2020.

He had planned to fight then-reigning heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou, but it fell through after Dana White claimed Jones demanded too much money.

If Jones does fight at UFC 282, he will be on the same card as Robbie Lawler vs. Santiago Ponzinibbi, the only confirmed bout so far.
