Johnson Wagner emulates Bryson DeChambeau’s stunning US Open bunker shot with the man himself watching on – and he hilariously hands over the trophy!
Johnson Wagner had perhaps the best chip of his life live on Golf Channel as part of his “Live From” segment following the conclusion of the US Open.
That nationwide crowd included U.S. Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, who had the best view from the infamous bunker on hole No. 18 at Pinehurst.
It was from that same sand trap that DeChambeau nearly captured his second major championship victory hours earlier. The LIV golfer had his penultimate shot of the tournament dribble close to the pin and lay down a few meters away.
Golf fans knew immediately that Wagner would have to try to recreate the great approach later that evening.
Getting the ball over the edge of the bunker and down quickly enough to leave an easy putt is a difficult task, evidenced by Wagner’s first attempt out of the sand, which he said may have been close to the Pinehurst clubhouse had ended up.

Before Wagner could take another shot, DeChambeau rolled to the bunker in his golf cart with the U.S. Open Trophy in hand.
Wagner discussed DeChambeau’s win with the US Open champion before getting some tips on how to best approach the hard chip before setting up his second attempt.
With DeChambeau just feet away, Wagner delivered a blow, with the LIV Golfer more quickly realizing that Wagner’s shot was beautiful.
Once the ball came to rest, it was closer to the pin than DeChambeau’s was during the tournament.
Once Wagner became aware of his achievement, he cheered and gave DeChambeau a powerful high-five.
After throwing his wedge elsewhere in the bunker, DeChambeau had Wagner hold his U.S. Open Championship trophy for photos, as if the host made the great shot in a high-pressure moment.
“I don’t think I’ll ever win the U.S. Open now that I’ve touched it,” Wagner said of taking photos with DeChambeau’s trophy.
To conclude the segment, Wagner asked DeChambeau for a drink, which the US Open champion graciously accepted.
