Just when you think Johnny Manziel’s stories have all been told, another pops up.

The Texas A&M legend and Cleveland Browns bust were featured on Netflix Untold series, which delves into aspects of his rise from a lowly high school recruit to a college phenom and later an NFL first-round pick.

His former best friend, Nate Fitch – also known as Uncle Nate – was a constant presence in the documentary and throughout Manziel’s high school and college days.

Speak with After a whileFitch revealed a story about Manziel’s legend that was previously unknown to the public, and not surprisingly, they ran afoul of the law while living in College Station, Texas.

“We were driving down a road in College Station, and I just begged him, ‘You don’t drive, you don’t drive’ – there’s a bunch of girls with us,” Fitch recalled.

The ex-Browns QB, known as Johnny Football or Money Manziel, became a living legend in Texas.

“And so he drove… we flew down the highway, he drove and we got pulled over.

“It was only because he was going too fast, he didn’t swerve. He was just accelerating. We were drinking – I’m not going to speculate if he was over the legal limit or not, but we were definitely partying all day.

“He rolls down the window… and (the cop) looks at Johnny and his eyes light up. And he says, “I’m so sorry, Mr. Football, can we take you home?”

“We’ll have a police escort home. Then I thought the damn wheels came off and there was nothing I could do.’

Manziel’s best friend/publicist/agent at the time is also the originator of one of the biggest misnomers surrounding Manziel. That is, his family came from oil money.

“And so, the biggest twist that still exists today, I came up with a story that his family was immensely wealthy,” Fitch said during Untold: Johnny Football.

“We kind of sold the dream that my family had more money than they actually had,” Manziel added.

The myth was propagated by the mainstream media, including FS1 headliners Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless.
