John Travolta involved in relief efforts in Ft. Myers, Florida in wake of Hurricane Ian

John Travolta took to Instagram on Monday, encouraging his 4.5 million followers to help with the relief efforts in Florida after Hurricane Ian.

“Hi, I just got to Ft. Myers with some food and supplies for those affected by the hurricane,” the Oscar-nominated star, 68, “and if you’d like to help, just get in touch. volunteerflorida.org.’

The New Jersey-born actor sported a clean-shaven head with a goatee while wearing a black jacket over a black polo shirt.

The Grease star received endorsements for his post from show business colleagues, including Mario Lopez, Donnie Wahlberg and Ruddy Rodriguez.

Wahlberg wrote, “So nice,” while Lopez posted emojis of hearts. Rodriguez said, “Thank you so much for your care and kindness.”

The Hollywood hero was among those who took part in the rebuilding as electricity was restored to more than 2.5 million businesses and homes Monday, according to the AP.

The death toll in Florida in the wake of the hurricane rose to 102 Monday, state officials said. A total of 111 people died in the natural disaster, including five people in North Carolina, one in Virginia and three in Cuba.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said over the weekend that leaders in Panama City — where Category 5 Hurricane Michael caused significant damage in 2018 — will be involved in recovery efforts in places hardest hit by Hurricane Ian.

“They’re going to come in, they’re going to inspect, and then they’re going to give some advice to the local officials here in Lee County, Fort Myers Beach, and other places,” DeSantis said. ‘You can do whatever you want. You don’t have to follow their advice. But I tell you it was a great, great effort.”
