John Terry has suggested there is an ‘untold side’ to Mason Mount’s acrimonious departure from Chelsea and urged Blues fans ‘not to be too harsh’ on the Manchester United star when he returns to Stamford Bridge.
Mount, who joined the Red Devils for £60 million this summer, was involved in contract talks with Chelsea last season after reportedly demanding a salary comparable to that of the highest-paid Blues player Raheem Sterling.
The Chelsea academy graduate was a fan favorite at Stamford Bridge for several seasons under Frank Lampard, Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter, but now he is being condemned among the Blues fanbase for choosing to sign for Premier League side rival Manchester United.
Chelsea legend Terry has urged fans to go easy on the England midfielder, insisting there are two sides to every story.
The former England defender also hinted that he has inside information about why Mount chose to leave the club – and that this could shift some of the blame to the 24-year-old.

‘I’m not going to broadcast that tonight, but there is another side to the story. Let’s not be too hard on him when he comes back.’
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Mount scored 33 goals and 37 assists in 195 appearances, helping the Blues win the Champions League in 2021.
After lifting the trophy, Mount said: “Chelsea is my blood. I love this club, I love these fans.’
