John Stamos reveals he drank a bottle of wine straight AFTER his DUI arrest as he opens up about his brutal alcohol problems – and admits he ‘can’t remember being on set’ of My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 because he was drunk all the time
John Stamos remembers going home and drinking an entire bottle of wine after being arrested for drunk driving in 2015 — and later flying to Toronto to film My Big Fat Wedding 2.
The 60-year-old Full House alum has opened up about his arrest and battle with alcoholism in his new memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, and has admitted that he feels “sick” when he thinks back on that period in his to live.
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, John revealed that not only did he continue drinking after his DUI, but he also had to fly to Canada the next day to shoot the movie, claiming he has no memory of his time on set.
Asked if he thought his life was over when he was arrested in Beverly Hills, the father-of-one replied: “No, and that’s the problem. It was terrible, I could have killed someone. It just makes me sick.

The Full House star was photographed handcuffed in Beverly Hills during the arrest, which he describes as ‘terrible’
The day after his arrest, John had to fly to Toronto to film My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 with Rita Wilson
“When I saw myself there in handcuffs, I thought, ‘That’s not the child my parents raised.’ My parents were good and I didn’t respect my childhood because it was beautiful, everything I learned from my parents…’
John then admitted, “So I went home and you know what I did? I drank another bottle of wine myself and I realized… I forgot that the next day they said, “You have to go to Toronto, you’re in My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.”
“I got (hammered) and I don’t remember being on that set.”
When he got home, his sisters and agents were waiting with their suitcases packed, ready to take him to a rehab facility in Utah.
The General Hospital star, who spent 30 days at Cirque Lodge, said he wasn’t upset about his loved ones staging an “intervention.”
John said he believes his alcoholism is “hereditary” and claims his parents were alcoholics “but they were functioning.”
He said, “It’s hereditary, and if you poke at it long enough… it attacks you like a monster, and that’s what happened to me.”
Referring to his 2004 divorce from his first wife, Rebecca Romijn, he continued: “But it was the combination of the divorce, and then my father died and then things just went wrong… and then my mother died, and I hit rock bottom reaches.
‘I could stop for a few days, I could stop for a week, but I would put on a performance and at the end I would reward myself. I was often very lonely, so I noticed that when I drank, I would be with these people that – if I was sober – I would never be with.”
During the conversation with Howard, John also elaborated on his breakup with 50-year-old Rebecca. He said the fact that the Victoria’s Secret model’s career skyrocketed made him feel “emasculated.”

“I loved her and I thought she was super talented. So I was happy to do that,” he said of helping Rebecca launch her own acting career. ‘But I forgot my own stuff. She left and I just didn’t pay attention to mine. And it wasn’t her fault.
“I mean, you know, you just get wrapped up in these things. I said, “You know what? I’ve had enough fame, I’m fine. Let’s put her in the spotlight,” and I loved watching it. I think she’s outgrown me.’
In his memoir, John admitted he “hated” Rebecca amid their “painful” and “crushing” divorce, which took place in the early 2000s after six years of marriage.
He recently said it had been “very difficult” to write about the divorce and rethink the emotions he had felt at the time.
“In my mind at the time, she was the devil, and I just hated her,” he said. “I couldn’t believe how much I hated her, and it ruined my life.”
