John ‘Dr Turf’ Rothfield: Radio star’s home is targeted in terrifying home invasion with three thugs confronting his daughter

The home of a former radio star is targeted by brazen crime-seeking teens as police launch a search for several missing luxury vehicles.

The home of Melbourne media veteran John ‘Dr Turf’ Rothfield was just one of several properties hit by three young thugs in Melbourne’s affluent inner-city.

It is understood that while Mr Rothfield was away, one of his daughters was confronted by the gang at their Armadale home about 2.20am on Tuesday.

Victoria Police said the youths fled after trying to steal a car from the property.

The gang’s crime started at 9.45pm on Monday when they broke into a vehicle on Waverley Road in Malvern East to steal tools.

The criminals then broke into a house on nearby Alcala Avenue around 10 p.m. and stole the keys to a 2014 Porsche Macan GTS worth $140,000.

On Tuesday the trio resumed their crime spree and stole a number of tools from a garden shed in Wattle Grove at around 1.35am.

They then broke into a house on Avalon Road in Armadale while three people were sleeping.

They stole car keys and personal items before fleeing around 2.20am in the victim’s 2017 Volkswagen Golf and their Porsche Wagon.

The trio eventually raided a home on Paxton Street, where they stole car keys and made off with the victim’s 2013 Mercedes Benz SLK.

A Victoria Police spokesperson said while the Volkswagen Golf had been recovered, three other luxury vehicles were still outstanding.

No one was injured in the incidents.

Anyone with information or CCTV or dashcam footage of the incidents is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
