John Mulaney thanks Olivia Munn for ‘making me a dad’ on Father’s Day

Comedian John Mulaney spent his second Father’s Day as a father with his son Malcolm and his child’s mother, Olivia Munn.

The 40-year-old funny man and actor – who recently mourned the loss of his dog Petunia – took to Instagram on Sunday and shared new snaps of him, Malcolm and Munn.

“You made me a father, Olivia. I love you forever because you do,” Mulaney said in the caption of his post.

The comedian was seen shirtless holding his son as he sat in an inflatable floating chair in the water, with Munn by his side, seemingly floating down a lazy river.

He also shared a video of him holding Malcolm, while Munn asked him to say “Happy Father’s Day,” to which Mulaney captioned, “God damn it, I’m one lucky guy.”

Munn commented on the post, “For the past 18 months, these two have been falling more and more in love with each other every day. I’m lucky my son has you as his father.’

Munn also shared some photos of their family, adding in the caption, “We love you Dada Happy Father’s Day!”

She also shared a video of Mulaney moving Malcolm’s arms and making him “dance” to the classic Little Richard song Good Golly Miss Molly.

The videos come just months after Mulaney released his new Netflix comedy special Baby J, in which he opened up about his substance abuse issues.

He previously credited Bill Hader and Natasha Lyonne for being part of a star-studded intervention that he said “saved his life.”

In the latest special, he takes a few playful jabs at another participant in the intervention, former SNL fixture Fred Armisen.

Fred Armisen was serious. Do you know how unpleasant that is?’ he joked.

Mulaney also clarified that “Nick” was Nick Kroll, who he collaborated with on the Broadway show Oh, Hello, a spin-off of a Kroll Show skit.

Notably, Mulaney omitted part of his act that had been featured in previous stand-up shows prior to the recording of his new set.

He included a hilarious snippet noting that all of his intervention visitors had no intention of being aggressive or attacking him — except for Nick Kroll, who accidentally stayed out of that message chain.

Mulaney said Kroll started a tirade at the start of his turn to talk at the intervention, before his other friends calmed him down.

He explained that the surprise intervention came when he was invited to a friend’s dinner party, and many of his friends who couldn’t come showed up via Zoom.

“Now let me just call this — I don’t want to be weird. It was a star-studded intervention,” he joked. “As angry as I was when I walked in there, I thought, ‘This is a good lineup.’ It was like a “We Are the World” of over 40 alternative comedians. All comedians, but no one said anything funny all night. Before I got there, they promised each other they wouldn’t do bits.’
