John Mellencamp’s mystery new girlfriend revealed as millionaire socialite Kristin Kehrberg, 57 – after star, 71, revealed he was a ‘s****y boyfriend’ to Meg Ryan

John Mellencamp’s mysterious new girlfriend has been revealed as millionaire socialite Kristin Kehrberg, 57 – with resurfaced snaps showing the pair cozying up in early August.

Musician Mellencamp, 71, who was previously engaged to Meg Ryan, was seen hugging Kehrberg – the widow of Shelter Island advertising guru Richard Dick Tarlow, who died aged 81 in May 2022 – outside his granddaughter Slate’s fashion show in Los Angeles.

The pair looked smitten as they chatted and hugged while wearing matching black and white ensembles.

Speaking to Bill Maher about his new love at Club Random on Monday, Mellencamp said, “She’s a beautiful 57-year-old woman who just walked into my New York apartment unexpectedly.

‘She was with some friends. She walked in. She didn’t know I would be there. I didn’t know she was there. We met.

‘She was with some friends. She walked in. She didn’t know I would be there. I didn’t know she was there. We met.’

“It’s so hard to believe, I know. She has a very high tolerance threshold.’

In June, Mellencamp admitted he was a bad boyfriend to Meg Ryan, nearly four years after their engagement ended.

The musician took responsibility for his split from the 61-year-old actress – whose son recently posted a selfie – in 2019 after eight years on/off together.

John spoke candidly with Esquire about their tumultuous relationship in an article published Tuesday in which he said, “I love Meg Ryan. I went with her for 10 years. She doesn’t love me that much.

‘She’s a great girl. I’m just such a boyfriend.’

The two started dating in 2010 and John described those early years as they both tried to get their feet under the ground in their new relationship.

He explained, “Meg Ryan had just come out of her shell; I had just come out of my shell. We started dating.

“And we decided to do things ourselves instead of having people do things for us. We were so damn lost. We didn’t know how to do anything. I’ve never checked out of a hotel myself.’

He went on to tell a funny story about how they bonded in a strange way when they noticed their celebrity lives prevented them from learning some basic day to day things.

John said, “She and I went to a supermarket, and they wanted our credit card, and we looked at each other and said, ‘Here it is,’ and they said, ‘No, you have to put it in the store.’ this thing,” and we said, “What happens then?”

“We laughed at how stupid we are, we cried so hard. I think she learned how to do everything, and I learned how to do nothing.’

In October 2019 this was reported by American Weekly that the former power couple had ended their engagement after eight years together.

The magazine insider revealed, “She had had enough and ended (their engagement). She doesn’t regret it.’

Rumors of a breakup began after Meg was seen without her engagement ring at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ 11th Annual Governors Awards in Hollywood on Oct. 27, 2019.

The duo was last photographed together in May of that year.

The famous couple were first linked in late 2010 after John parted ways with ex-wife Elaine Irwin.

They separated in August 2014 after which John dated Christie Brinkley until divorce in 2016.

John and Meg got back together the following year, and on November 8, 2018, the beauty of Joe Versus the Volcano announced their engagement in an Instagram post featuring a sketch of the couple with the caption “ENGAGED.”

She was married to Dennis Quaid from 1991 to 2001; he was married to Priscilla Esterline from 1970 to 1981, to Victoria Granucci from 1981 to 1989, and to Elaine Irwin from 1992 to 2011.

Meg is mother to son Jack, 31, with Quaid, and daughter Daisy, 19, whom she adopted in 2005.

John is father to daughters Michelle, 52, with Esterline; Teddi, 41, and Justice, 38, with Granucci; and with Irwin, sons Hud, 29, and Speck, 28.

Meg spoke about her engagement to John in the August 2019 issue In style.

The Sleepless In Seattle actress had admitted she was in no rush to walk down the aisle with the Little Pink Houses hitmaker.

“I’m happy,” said the blonde star – who got her breakthrough in Top Gun in 1986 – at the time. “Yes, I’m getting married someday. But for now, this betrothal thing is a state of grace.”
