John Mayer, 46, Reveals He 'Absolutely' Wants to 'Get Married' as He Humorously Opens Up About His 'Reliability Kink'

John Mayer revealed that he “absolutely” wants to “get married” and also jokingly referenced his “reliability kink.”

The Your Body Is A Wonderland singer, 46 — who recently sent Anderson Cooper and boyfriend Andy Cohen into fits of laughter — opened up about the topic during a segment on Sunday's upcoming episode Comfort Food podcast by Kelly Rizzo.

At some point during the interview, per Peoplethe artist admitted that he was ready for a serious step in his life.

'People don't think I want to get married. I definitely want to get married,” he told Rizzo, adding, “You know the secret, which is that I'm actually quite well-adjusted.”

'And I really want to get married, if only because my wife would know in her heart: 'John knows what to do.'

Mayer continued, “I just think that level of confidence is the most exciting thing in the world for me. 'If my husband was here, he would know what to do. Call John. Call my husband.'

'You're an adult if this is your romantic fantasy. You're a full-fledged adult.'

Kelly — who is notably the widow of late actor Bob Saget — interjected, jokingly saying, “Your kink is you want someone to say, 'John has a husband.'

'Confidence nod? Oh my God. Reliability kink? Yes,” the Edge Of Desire hitmaker told the presenter.

Over the years, John has had a number of high-profile romances with stars like Jessica Simpson, Katy Perry and also Taylor Swift.

The performer previously discussed his love life and during an appearance on the channel Call Her Daddy podcast in December 2022, he admitted that his sobriety helped stop his womanizing and that he was looking for long-term love.

“Dating for me is no longer a codified activity, it no longer exists in a kind of… it's no longer modeled,” he said at the time.

'I don't really go out, I don't think I need to, to be honest. I stopped drinking six years ago, so I don't have the liquid courage. I just have dry courage.'

Mayer made the decision to get sober in 2016 after enduring a six-day hangover after celebrating Drake's 30th birthday. 'I remember thinking, 'What will happen if I keep going? I always stop here. What if I continue?”

While on the podcast, he also discussed his reputation as a “womanizer,” saying, “I think, look, the elephant in the room is that I'm on a show that caters to women, and I have a few name tags. on me, like 'Lothario' and 'womanizer', and I think that's that.'

He later admitted that in the past he had been 'made to believe' that when someone had shown interest in him it was simply an 'accident' and that he should 'take advantage' of it.

“And so I felt very deeply when someone liked me. Very deep,” Mayer admitted to host Alex Cooper.

Despite his romantic past, the singer said he always hoped his relationships would be long-lasting.

He claimed, “Every relationship I've ever had has been dedicated to the idea that this could bridge the distance.”

“My entire life, today included, if you told me I could have two great months with someone, but it would end on the first day of the third month, I wouldn't be interested. I have always looked for opportunities for a long-term relationship.'
