He vowed to review his lifestyle and lose weight in 2007.

And John Goodman proved he had stuck to his plan when he showed off his lean physique at the 62nd Monte Carlo TV Festival in Monaco on Sunday.

The 70-year-old actor – who’s lost 200 pounds over the years – looked incredible as he posed on the red carpet at the festival, where he was the judge’s chair.

Festival organizer Laurent Puons said of the decision to appoint him: ‘John Goodman is honestly a legend,’ says Puons. “My grandson loves him, my mother loves him and I love him.

“He crossed several generations with a phenomenal film career and a phenomenal television career. He’s done it all, played every part. If he wasn’t leading the jury, we’d be giving him our Lifetime Achievement Award.”

John looked smart on the red carpet wearing a tailored suit jacket that he paired with beige slacks and a patterned yellow tie.

The Rosanne star first started his journey in 2007 when he stopped drinking, but his trainer then took him to a new level of weight loss and fitness.

According to his trainer, he introduced the star to a “Mediterranean-style eating plan” – with a focus on fish, nuts, olive oil, vegetables and fruits.

John also exercises six days a week, making sure to take 10,000 to 12,000 steps a day and using an elliptical bike and treadmill.

The actor has always been open about his love of food, telling People in the past, “It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you’re going to eat next.” ‘

In 2016, John told Howard Stern, “I took it easy. I just wanted to change my lifestyle’ and admitted about his new way of living: ‘It’s an ongoing process for the rest of my life.

“You look in the mirror every day and say, ‘I have to deal with this for the rest of the day, do I have to deal with this asshole?'”

The following year, he told ABC about his weight loss, “I used to take three months off, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just fall back into my old habits.”

“This time I wanted to take it easy. Move, exercise. I’m getting to an age where I can’t afford to sit still.’

As part of his lifestyle overhaul, the actor gave up alcohol, telling AARP in 2018, “It was really just portion control and “I don’t need it.” I just stuffed everything in my mouth.’

Speaking about his alcohol addiction, John told Rolling Stone magazine, “All that anger was fueled by fear, and the drinking was because it was fun.

“But I was probably born an alcoholic. But most of the anger is gone. When I’m not watching the news, I’m cool.”
