John Farnham’s sons share a sombre update on the singer’s health battle
John Farnham’s sons share a somber update on the singer’s health struggles as they reveal he has a ‘long road to recovery’ following his cancer surgery
John Farnham’s sons have provided an update on the legendary singer’s battle with cancer as a documentary about his life and career prepares to hit theaters.
Robert and James Farnham said on Friday their father, 73, still has a “long road to recovery” ahead of him after having a cancerous tumor removed from his mouth.
But they stressed “he is a fighter” and remain positive.
Robert continued sunrise“It’s quite a long road, like cancer, but he’s fine and we can spend a lot of time with him and his courage is good, so we can’t ask for more.”
James added that his father has yet to see the Finding the Voice documentary, but is nevertheless “proud” of the feature film.

“He’s pretty proud of it, but he hasn’t seen it yet,” James said.
“He doesn’t really like to listen or watch himself, so it will take him a while to look at it, but he is proud of the whole situation and very happy with everything.”
The brothers are also very proud of the documentary, believing it tells the story of their father’s career, including its various ups and downs, in a “real and raw way.”

“It wasn’t fluff, it was real and we loved that,” said James.
Robert added, “The producers and the popular director did a great job. It was so true and real and very raw and for us we were distant with it but we got to see a rough cut of it and it was just phenomenal.

Farnham was rushed to hospital just two months ago with a chest infection.
His last health scare came seven months after his cancer removal surgery, but he is now home and fully recovered as he continues his cancer treatment.

Last Monday, the You’re The Voice singer’s sons and wife Jill released a statement thanking the hospital staff who cared for him.
“We are pleased to say that at the end of March John made a full recovery from a recent chest infection that required him to be hospitalized,” it said.
“He is now at ease and is still receiving treatment and rehabilitation care.
“The family would like to reiterate their appreciation and deep respect for all the medical staff who have attended to John over the past eight months and for the many thousands of kind messages received from across Australia and the world.”
